Grace Elda Conrad

OBITUARY INFORMATION: Grace Elda Conrad was born the daughter of Abraham, and Myrtle (Snyder) Cutright on Friday, October 8, 1924 in Czar, West Virginia. Grace grew up in West Virginia where she met her future husband Chuck. She married Charles Dempsey Conrad in West Virginia in 1943. Grace and Chuck moved to California in 1948 and then later to Oregon. Grace and Chuck had three children, Charles Martin, Ralph and Lori Ann. They lived in Sherwood for about twenty-five years until Chuck passed and Grace moved to Newberg. Grace worked at Birds Eye, Newberg Care Home and King City Convalescent Home. Grace enjoyed the friends she made while living independently the last eight years in her Vittoria Way apartment. She attended bible studies and exercise classes while living there, and was well known for giving great hugs to those who would come along while she was sitting waiting daily for her mail. She took great pleasure in baking and cooking for others and enjoyed sharing her treats with her neighbors and a dog or two. Grace spent many hours doing search a word puzzles, watching her favorite soap operas, and watching wrestling. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She especially enjoyed her great-grand kids. On Sunday, January 17, 2010, Grace (Gracie) Elda Conrad died at Providence Newberg Hospital surrounded by loving friends and family. She was eighty-five years old. Surviving and left to honor her life are: two sons, Chuck (wife Alta) of Toledo, OR , and Ralph and Gertie of Dundee; two sisters, Frances McKinney of California, and Hazel Cutright of West Virginia; her brother Floyd (wife Rose) of West Virginia; one sister-in-law, Mattie Matthews of Newberg; five grandchildren, Michelle, Denny, Michael, Evan, and Jennifer; six great- grandchildren, and those who have come to know and appreciate her where she has lived and worked. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Charles (Chuck), daughter Lori Ann and two sisters, Pauline and Gladys. Her Memorial Service will be Saturday, January 30, at 11:00 a.m. in Attrell’s Newberg Funeral Chapel, a Golden Rule Funeral Home, with Pastor Steven Jaquith officiating. Private Committal will be held at Valley View Memorial Park.
