Bonnie Jo Fortune

On Monday, May 22nd, 2023, Bonnie Jo Fortune, a beloved wife, mother, and friend, left her earthly body and went to live with Jesus in Heaven. She was seventy-six years young. Born to Yvonne and Orville Killough on May 31,1946, Bonnie was the 4th daughter, and 6th child of 9. Bonnie spent her early childhood on the family farm in Red Cloud, where she found great joy in school (more so than working on the farm!), and playing sports like volleyball and softball. In 1961, Bonnie's family set forth on a new chapter, relocating to Oregon. During her junior year of high school, she met John Fortune, her future husband. In an instant, Bonnie's heart recognized its match, and their love story of over 56 years began. Their vows were exchanged in 1967, cementing a bond that would endure through their lives. Bonnie graduated high school in 1964 and went right into the work force. Bonnie was passionate about customer service and successfully worked in that capacity most of her life. She was the glue that binds in the family beer business at Fortune’s Distributors for 0ver 30 years and finished her career helping people “be so lucky” at her brother’s limousine company. Bonnie's spirit and genuine care for people left an indelible imprint on the lives she touched. She loved playing cards, especially bridge where she became a Life Master and met several great friends along the way. Bonnie also loved watching movies, playing games, visiting with her family, and drinking wine! Most of all, Bonnie cherished her family, her heart overflowed with love for them. Bonnie's legacy lives on through the unwavering love she shared with her devoted husband, John, and the profound impact she had on her children: Adina Staehnke (Mark), Mike Fortune (Linda), and Raegan Vaughn (Mike). Her love extended to embrace her grandchildren: Rodney, Wade, Tevin, Davia, Whitney, Olivia, Weston, Emma, Liam, and Lucas, who were her greatest treasures. She was also graced with five great-grandchildren. Bonnie's siblings, Karon Heineman, Sandy Johnson, Richard Killough, Glenda Killough, and Steve Killough, together with numerous cherished nieces and nephews, carry the legacy of her love within their hearts. We will remember her as a beacon of light, an embodiment of unwavering positivity, and a living testament to the power of love. Bonnie’s Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 14th, 2023, at 5:30pm at Cana’s Feast Winery, 750 W Lincoln St, Carlton, OR.
