Andrew Lee Wihtol

Andrew Lee Wihtol, born June 16, 1943 in Waltham, Massachusetts passed away peacefully in his care home on June 5, 2026 with family visiting him daily in his final days. Andy was born to Mae and Wes Wihtol. After he was born in Massachusetts, his parents moved with him to Evanston, Illinois before settling in Mountain View, California. While in California, Andy often spoke about the fun activities he participated in with his brothers Scott and Alan.. These activities involved setting off rockets in the apricot orchards nearby. He often told stories to his grandchildren with glee about the rockets he set off. He also enjoyed discussing the times he would return home to visit his youngest brother, Sandy. He was very proud of Sandy for his athleticism and being a part of Major League Baseball. Andy was very involved in school activities. He attended Mountain View High School. Even though he was athletic, he would tell his children and grandchildren stories of his nickname “Turtle” given by his football or track teammates. In addition to his participation in sports, he was also active in his student body association. He was selected by his high school to be an AFS student to Argentina in 1960. This sparked his love for travel and future involvement with AFS. Upon graduating from High School, he wanted to become a pilot in the Navy. He attended Purdue University on an ROTC scholarship. While at Purdue, he joined and was active in the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. After graduating from college with a degree in Finance, Andy moved back to Mountain View California. In 1966, he met his future bride, Mary Susan, while playing tennis with a group of friends in San Jose, California. They married just 3 months after meeting each other and started their family in Cupertino, California. They welcomed their son, Craig, in 1970 and their daughter, Kim, in 1972. Andy loved to travel the world. He brought that love of learning new culture to his family by moving them to Jakarta, Indonesia in 1976 on a work opportunity. They lived there for a year and a half before they decided to move to the Pacific Northwest. While raising his family with his wife, Susan, Andy was very involved in his community. He was on the Board of OMSI and Boy Scouts of America. He was on the SIM Executive Board, King City Men’s Golf Club, King City Camera Club, and Bridge Club. Additionally, he was a host father to several American Field Service (AFS) students, and worked with other parents to help foster a safe community in Lake Oswego, Oregon. In 1987, Andy began his own Executive Search Firm. He was an entrepreneur at heart and enjoyed strategizing how to bring talent together from around the world to organizations that needed that kind of assistance. He had great pleasure in giving advice to the next generations and help in their journeys in life. He gave counsel to the end. When Andy wasn’t working, he was an avid outdoorsman. He skied, hiked, fished, hunted, played golf, and played softball. He also enjoyed gardening. He loved Dahlias and other blooms. He was very vocal about his love of nature. He would get up to see the sunrise and stay up to see the Milky Way at nighttime in Eastern Oregon during his hunting trips. He enjoyed photography as well especially when he was engaged in outdoor activities. Andy will be remembered for his love of words, curiosity, travel, sense of humor, laugh, gentle heart, love of family, and love of life. Although Lewy Body Dementia took away many of his cognitive skills, his sense of humor remained as well as his love and recognition of his close friends and family. He leaves behind his wife Susan, his son Craig and wife Jenny, his daughter Kim and husband John, 4 grandchildren-Emma, Jake, Trevor, and Jackson, and his brothers Scott and wife Karen, Alan and wife Dede, and Sandy and wife Karen and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
