Yvonne Virginia Cross Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Yvonne Virginia Snyder was born to Gordon & Mildred Snyder on July 28, 1938. She grew up on what we now know as Snyder Park with her brothers Ron (Cathy), Barry (Ardis) and her sister Karen. She loved her childhood growing up on the farm. She attended Sherwood schools, graduating in 1956. She then went to work for Premier Insurance Company in downtown Portland until they moved to California in the 80’s. She was able to work from home once she started her family. On June 24, 1960 Yvonne wed Louis Cross. They had two children, Lynda and Michael. Yvonne was a wonderful mother. She always made sure that her kids had the best of everything. She attended school events and went on field trips. She also enjoyed watching Bowmen football and basketball games. Yvonne also enjoyed family vacations on the Oregon Coast and going to Newberg Dairy Queen for foot long hot dogs! On September 7, 1990, Yvonne became a grandmother. Oh Boy! Was she excited about that! Her grandchildren; Jamie, Justin, Jennifer and Kelvin were her joy. She cared for all four during the week days taking them to and from school and to their after school activities. She would drop them off in the morning and say, “I’ll be back at 2:15 in my limousine!” In December 2012, Yvonne’s health started to deteriorate. She slowed down significantly but still enjoyed visiting with family and watching her sports on TV. She especially liked Oregon Duck Football and Basketball and the Portland Trail Blazers. Her heart finally failed her on the night of May 11, 2016 and heaven gained another angel. So today we have to say our goodbyes but she will never be forgotten. To her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews: She loved you all very much.
