William Joseph Zipprich

William Joseph Zipprich, died peacefully at home, Friday October 19th in Dundee, Oregon, overlooking the Willamette Valley and the Cascade Mountains. Born May 19, 1931 in Peoria, IL, Bill was the 5th son of Lee and Mabel Zipprich. He is survived by his wife Joyce, sons David and Ron, daughter Alicia, grandchildren Scott, Chad, Jenifer, Matt and Reese, great grandchildren Nolan, Chris, Audrey and a little boy on the way, and his younger brother Dale. Bill graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Engineering and later moved to Oregon where he met and fell in love and married Joyce. They lived in Lake Grove while raising their sons. Bill and Joyce moved to the hills of Dundee, Oregon in 1978 to purchase an acre of land and be close to the Newberg paper mill where Bill was employed as a project engineer for many years. Bill also worked at Ogden-Martin in Brooks and Climax in Newberg. Wild Bill, aka Sweet William, could often be found in his garage reloading bullets to later use at the shooting range or on one of his many hunting and camping trips he took with his family and friends. He was also an avid astronomer and spent many a night gazing at the stars with his telescope. Bill and Joyce have been active members of the Newberg Methodist Church and more recently, Newberg Christian Church. Bill’s faith was strengthened within the community of believers and many close friendships were formed. Bill especially cherished babies and made it a personal priority to pray for new mothers and their children. Bill was a man of integrity and commitment. He loved his wife, family and friends and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 27th at Newberg Christian Church at 11:00am, with a brief reception following.
