Virginia Ann Herrold

Virginia Ann Herrold passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 surrounded by her family after a short bout with cancer, just 11 days short of her 79th birthday. Virginia was born May 6, 1933 in Hillsboro, Oregon to Victor and Pearl E (Miller) Christensen. She spent her entire life in western Oregon. Her early life was spent on the family dairy farm on Mason Hill near Helvetia. In 1945 the family moved to the Tualatin area to continue their dairy and strawberry farm. After the move they became very involved with the Winona Grange in Tualatin. She graduated from Tigard High School in 1953. Virginia met John W. Herrold at a grange function in early 1953 and they were married November 28 of that year. After her marriage she made her home in Gaston and started a family. Her passions in life were her family, her animals and gardening. She is survived by John, her husband of 58 years, daughters, Beverly J. Hall of Newberg, Helen E. Herrold of Hillsboro, sons, John W. Herrold Jr. of Banks and V. George Herrold of Roseburg as well as four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor in 1991, Pearl in 2010 and her brother Victor Alan in 1935. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Forest Grove Grange. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a remembrance be given to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are in care of Attrell's Newberg Funeral Chapel, a Golden Rule funeral home.
