Verle S. Fleener

Verle Stanley Fleener passed away peacefully at his home in Newberg on April 21, 2018. He was 88 years old. He was born in Randolph, Nebraska, the youngest son of John and Lola Fleener, and brother to Eudene, Charles, John, and Jan. Having moved to Newberg in his youth, he graduated from high school, then immediately joined the Air Force in 1947. While serving in the military he met his soon to be wife, with whom he would spend the next 65 years. Verle was discharged from the Air Force in 1953, and returned to Newberg with his wife, and to work and raise his family. He eventually retired for his work at NAPA in 1993. Throughout the years he always enjoyed sharing his love of sports. Family members which preceded him in death are his parents, his sister Eudene, and brothers Charles and John, niece Caroline, and nephew Ed. He is survived by his wife June; children Debbie and Mike and daughter-in-law Sue; grandchildren Justin, Casey, Tisha, and Kimi; great-grandchildren Charles, Lucille, Jocelyn, Ayla, Justin, and Christina; his sister Jan; and nieces and nephews Verlene, Lynn, Sandy, Kaye, Stanley, Ron, Craig and Mel. A celebration of life memorial will be planned this summer.
