Susan Leffler Hughes Susan Jean Hughes was born the daughter of Rudy, and Margie (Tinnerstet) Leffler on Wednesday, December 10, 1941 in Newberg, Oregon. Susan lost her battle with cancer after a courageous two year struggle. She was born and raised in Newberg. She graduated from Newberg High School in 1960. Susan then completed two year’s of schooling at OHSU becoming an x-ray technician and working for several Orthopedic Doctors over a 40 year period. In 1967 she married Jim Hughes of Vancouver, Washington. They lived in Portland, Oregon for eight years before moving to Sherwood to make their home and raise their two daughters. The things that made Susan the most happy and excited was being mother to two girls and grandma to two sets of twin boys. Her passion for gardening and working in her green house were unmatched! Her favorite flower being the rose. Susan loved doing the annual Rock n Roll Cruises to the Caribbean and in between, traveling with their trailer now and then a trip to the southern states. She was also one of the driving forces on the Newberg Classmate Reunion committee, class of 1960. Surviving and left to honor her life are: her husband Jim Hughes of Sherwood; two daughters, Shauna and her husband Leighton Sherick of Newberg, and Stacey Peppermeier of Sherwood; four grandsons; one brother, Don Leffler of Newberg; sister in-law, Geri Carpenter of South Carolina and those who have come to know and appreciate her where she has lived and worked. Her father and mother preceded her in death. Her memorial Service will be Saturday, March 19, at 1:00 PM in Zion Lutheran Church, Newberg, with Norman Olson officiating. A private committal will follow. Arrangements are in the care of Attrell's Newberg Funeral Chapel, a Golden Rule Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.attrells.com
