Sid passed away peacefully on April 14th, 2022, in Beaverton, Oregon. Born in Kennett, Missouri, son of the late Whitney and Sydney Thrower and brother to the late Carol Rhea (d. 2017), late Stephen (d. 2021) and Thal. Survived by many nieces and nephews and extended family. Sid had a challenging childhood due to a bout of rheumatic fever and spent much time in the family home in Kennett including when he was11 and was taught school over the telephone that was connected to his classroom. Sid went on to graduate from Kennett school (1965), attended the University of Missouri for a year, and transferred to Southeast Missouri State University earning a bachelor’s degree in Sociology/Psychology. Sid also earned his Master of Art degree in Counselor Education in 1972 from Southeast State Missouri University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Ohio State University with a Major of Development Psychology. Sid had several occupations throughout the years including Learning Disabilities Center Supervisor, Elementary School Principal, Graduate Teaching Assistant at Ohio State, Adjunct Faculty at Ohio State and Consultant for the Severely Handicapped Students & Parents. Sid had an almost twenty-year span working as a Psychologist for the London Correctional Facility in London, Ohio. While he was there, the famous movie, Shawshank Redemption, was filmed on location. Sid then went on to retire while living in Athens, Ohio and then moved out to Oregon to be closer to family because of additional challenges with his health. Sid always loved funny jokes and sarcasm, a good cup of coffee and an apple fritter! He loved to play Pinnacle with friends and enjoyed watching Ohio State Football. A gentle soul, people always commented on Sid’s smile. He was always noted for being such a nice guy. He was always willing to help other’s, always putting someone else’s needs before his own. We will miss him dearly. Upon Sid’s request there will be no service or funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to: The Michael J.
