Ruby Mae Hix

Ruby Mae Hix died peacefully on Sept. 28 at age 94 and 9 months. Ruby was born in Elk City, Oklahoma to Rachel and John Folks. She was the oldest of five children. Her parents John and Rachel preceded her in death along with her siblings Faye Ray and Joe Folks. Her husband of 59 years also preceded her in death. She lived in Elk City until she married Homer Neal Hix in May, 1943. After serving in World War II they moved to Roswell, New Mexico where they raised their two daughters Sandra and Judy. Ruby moved to King City, Oregon at age 85 to be close to family and resided at King City Retirement Village till her death. She enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with her friends there. She was a member of Tigard United Methodist Church and was able to attend regularly until recently. Her quiet strength was an encouragement to all who met her, she will be missed deeply by her friends and family. She is survived by daughters Sandra Hardin, Judy Winegeart (Gary), grandchildren Dax Winegeart, Dethery Miles (Jason),Sarah Bascue (Jeremiah), Kelly Cottrell (Kyle), great-grandchildren, Miranda Winegeart, Genesse Miles, Elly Miles, Nolan Miles and Ruby Bascue.
