Rosemary Shrauger

Rosemary Shrauger passed away on March 28, 2017, she was 91. She was born in Creston, IA to Ross and Velma Hermon on December 31, 1925. She graduated from Creston High School in 1943, then moving with her sister Evelyn to Rondout, Illinois to be where their parents had moved for work the previous summer. Rosemary worked for a laundry, then in 19446 with her sister Evelyn they took a train vacation/tour to the West. Rosemary stayed in Salem, OR with her Aunt Edna and Uncle Lyle Lorentz. She worked as a Secretary in the Oregon Department of Education. Rented several places in Salem until she bought her first home in Keizer, OR. She was in the Naval Reserves for 8 years and loved to travel. She loved animals especially dogs. In earlier years she had three horses, then dogs; Collies, German Shepherds and Shelties for over 40 years, and in the last – three Chihuahua’s. She loved flowers and belonged to four plant clubs; Portland African Violet Society, Mt. Hood Gesneriad Society, Indoor Plant Club and the Portland Orchid Society. She was great at sewing, loved to embroider and cross stitch. She loved music and reading, loved classic movies, westerns and Star Trek. She married Howard E. Shrauger on January 17, 1959, living in Keizer until moving to Tigard, OR in the fall of 1961. Finally, moving to Newberg, OR in 1999. Howard preceded her in death on January 1, 1988 and her sisters Evelyn Edgar of Colorado Springs, CO Marilyn Milinad of McHenry, IL in 2016. She is survived by her son Harold Shrauger of Newberg, OR and her brother Larry Gene Hermon of Grays Lake, IL and her beloved Chihuahua Ginger. She loved God, her family and this Nation.
