ROALD BRADLEY MADLAND Roald B. Madland (Curly) died March 20, 2013 at his home in Dundee. He was born June 15, 1925 in Portland, the son of Bert and Gerda Madland (Person). He was eighty-seven years old. Roald graduated from Tigard Union High School in 1943. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy. In 1952 he married Elsie Huys, and they made their home in Tualatin where they lived for forty-eight years, raising five children. Roald was a Sheet Metal Journeyman and a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 16 for over 60 years. He loved gardening, working on cars, building and fixing things. He is survived by his sons Ronald Madland of San Diego, California, Alan Madland of Aloha, Gary Madland of McMinnville; his daughters Mary Ann Madland of Dundee and Patti Miller of Florence; his brother Bert Madland; his sister Shirley Baldwin; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 28th at 10:00 a.m. at Attrell’s Newberg Funeral Chapel, with a private military service and interment at Willamette National cemetery.
