Michael Lewis Watkins Michael Lewis Watkins was born the son of Howard and Christine (Woods) Watkins on Thursday, February 9, 1950 in Louisville, Kentucky. Michael enlisted in the United States Army on July 31, 1967 in Chicago, Illinois. During his service he was a heavy vehicle driver. He served during the Vietnam War and was very proud to serve his country. Michael was honorably discharged April 7, 1970. For over thirty years, Michael drove truck. He was well respected, and was considered very honest by those who knew him. Michael was a very dedicated Grandfather and was loved by his three Grandchildren. On Saturday, June 1, 2013, Michael Lewis Watkins, a Newberg resident, died at a local medical facility when he was sixty-three years, three months and twenty-three days of age. Surviving and left to honor his life are: two Daughters Dawn Watkins of Newberg, Oregon, and Stephanie Watkins of Carlton, Oregon; three Brothers, Billy, Howard, and Johnny Watkins of Illinois; his Sister Nancy Watkins of Kentucky; three Grandchildren; and those who have come to know and appreciate him where he has lived and worked. His parents preceded him in death. His graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Willamette National Cemetery, in Portland, Oregon.
