Margaret Edith Girouard died peacefully on September 14, 2020 in King City, Oregon. Edith was born on July 3, 1935 to James Harold and Bridget Mary “Sheila” McPherson in Haverhill, Massachusetts. She grew up in Plaistow, NH and attended St. James High School. Following high school, she attended McIntosh Business School. Edith was married to Morvan Richard Girouard in June 1955, a union that lasted 25 years. She and Richard spent their early years in New Hampshire where they had two sons, Michael and Thomas. The family moved to the Portland Oregon area in 1969. Edith had a career in electronics with Lewis Controls, Tektronics and InFocus. In retirement, Edith enjoyed playing golf, tending her flower garden, being an active member of the Republican Women’s group, and being devoted to her many furry dogs over the years - Ralphie, Bridget, and Quincy. She was a devout Catholic and was extremely involved in Stephen Ministry. She was a dedicated member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church located in Tigard, OR. Edith loved her annual trips to Florida in the Winter, where she shared many laughs with her siblings, Jimmy, Bonnie, Sandra and Tom over the years. Her sister Bonnie commented, “She was my big sister and best friend.” Edith was a woman who loved family and friends, and her fire-red nails exemplified her zest for life! Edith is preceded in death by her parents, Bridget Mary Connelly and James Harold McPherson, and her brother James McPherson and his wife Dorothy. Edith is survived by son Michael Richard Girouard and wife Joy of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren Sarah and Katie of Seattle, WA, Regan of Houston, TX, Dylan of Austin, TX; son Thomas Paul Girouard and wife Carlene of Cottage Grove, OR; grandchildren Elise and Taylor of Los Angeles, CA and Kelley of Portland, OR; sister Bonnie and husband Ray Whalen of Nashua, NH; Sandra Harrison of Plaistow, NH; brother Tom and wife Pat McPherson of Hampstead, NH; and Carlene Stokes, Edith’s childhood & lifelong friend of Port Richey, FL. A mass will be said for Edith at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Tigard, OR on October 4, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no services.
