Linda Mae Duncan

September 21, 1941 - January 21, 2020

Linda Mae VanDolah Duncan passed away gracefully and peacefully, surrounded by her devoted family on January 21, 2020. Linda loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was born in Petaluma, California on September 21, 1941 to Neville and Frances VanDolah. Linda grew up in Sherwood and attended the “old” Sherwood High School (the original Bulldogs) where she sang in the choir and toured Europe singing for the Pope. She attended dental school in Seattle, Washington and upon completion she started her career as a dental assistant. Linda attended the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Portland singing in the choir where she met her man, Daryl Newton Duncan. They were married in Reno, Nevada on November 3, 1963 and lived in Sherwood giving birth to Craig Leroy (1964), Tracy Mae, (1965), and Scot Vernon, (1968). They moved to Orangevale, California where she worked as a dental assistant. Daryl and Linda decided to take an opportunity they were offered from a close friend and moved to Missoula, Montana. They told us kids we were moving to where the cowboys and Indians played with buffalo. We were scared to death, but we all loved Montana. They moved to Billings when Daryl went to work for Budweiser Distributing and later with Coors. They stayed in Billings for 18 years and moved back home to Sherwood in 1992. Linda continued to work as a dental assistant and retired with Dr. Gail Nakata. Linda stayed very active with many organizations and clubs. She was President (past and present) of Broadmoor Women’s Club, a member of PEO Chapter CN, a member of two Bridge groups and enjoyed playing golf at different golf courses. She was a member of the Navigators Group and sang in the choir at Valley Presbyterian Church. Linda was a present member of Tualatin Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir. She loved music and was an avid reader and a member of two book clubs. Linda donated her eyes to Lion’s VisionGift and through this donation four people will be able to see. It was her wish that they will keep reading. She is preceded in death by her husband, Daryl Newton Duncan and son, Craig Leroy Duncan. She is survived by daughter, Tracy Mae McKinney of Winona, TX and son, Scot Vernon Duncan, and Jo Johnson of Lafayette, OR; grandchildren, Kyla Wesley of Gladewater, TX, Hannah Duncan of Portland, OR, Maddie Houston of Sherwood, OR, Jon-Michael McKinney and Landon McKinney of Winona, TX; Great grandchildren, Jesse Fulmer, Blakely Houston, Oaklan Wesley, and, soon, baby Chasen Wesley. Please join us in celebrating her life at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, February 15th, 2020 at the Tualatin Valley Presbyterian Church, 9230 SW Siletz Drive Tualatin, OR 97062
