Herbert Lorel Elliott Herbert Lorel Elliott passed from this life Saturday, October 15th at Life Care rehabilitation center. He was 92. He was born on November 19th, 1918 in Heber Springs, Arkansas. His parents were James Edgar Elliott and Anna Thomas Elliott. His family moved to Oklahoma by covered wagon where he grew up and went to school. In 1939, he and his family moved down to Arizona to earn a living. He was drafted into the Navy in 1943 and served on a minesweeper in Europe. He was a radarman and then a cook. He met a telephone operator who handled one of his calls back to his parents in Phoenix. He asked her out on a blind date and they got married in 1946. Her name was Virginia. He owned a car dealership in Globe Arizona until 1968. He closed it, then the family moved to Oregon. Herb and Virginia bought land in Carlton and lived there for 35 years. Virginia passed away in 2009. Herb left a legacy of faith in God for his children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving family are Steve Elliott and his wife Holly, Linda Beth and husband David Wormington, five grandsons and ten great-grandchildren. We will miss him greatly and be thankful he was in our life to be an example. His Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Church of Christ, McMinnville.
