OBITUARY INFORMATION: Fred DeMoss Fred Louis DeMoss was born the son of James and Rose (White) DeMoss on Thursday, June 10, 1915 in Stroud, Oklahoma. He was one of eleven children. Fred grew up and went to school in Stroud, Oklahoma. He worked at various jobs; a ranch hand while living in Texas, a boxer, a hard rock miner in Colorado, a machinist in California, a salesman for Simplex Time Machines. He also worked at a stationary, office equipment and repair store. He lived in Eagle, Colorado for awhile and that is when he met and married Frances “Billie” Coffee on August 10, 1936, they lived there five years before moving to Watsonville, California. Two years later they moved to Southern California and lived in the Yorba Linda area. While in California Fred attended California Baptist College and helped start the Baptist Mission in La Puente, California. In 1973 they moved to Newberg with the Shaklee Business and formed DeMoss Enterprises. “Billie” died February 17, 1997. Fred married Blanche May Thiessen known as “Bee” in Newberg on November 21, 1998. He loved writing songs, and had many of them published. He loved to tell jokes. He was a Past President of Kiwanis, a church member of the Northside Community Church in Newberg, and a past member of the Lions Club. On Tuesday, October 5, 2010, Fred Louis DeMoss died at a local care home when he was ninety-five years, three months and twenty-five days of age. Surviving and left to honor his life is his wife “Bee” DeMoss of Newberg; his son Ronald Grant DeMoss of Keizer; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and those who have come to know and appreciate him where he has lived and worked. His son Little Bill died at birth, his four brothers, James, John, Troy and Victor DeMoss; his six sisters, Ethel Dural, Elsa Reffel, Geri Steward, Helen Shields, Juanita Selby and Lorene Flake preceded him in death. His Funeral Service will be Sunday, October 10, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at Northside Community Church, 1800 N Hoskins, Newberg, with Pastor Lee Shafer officiating.
