Doris Ardell Christianson Foss Dec 24, 1922 ~ Mar 7, 2013 Doris died peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was 90. Doris was born in Wilmot, South Dakota on December 24, 1922. She was born to Albert and Clara Christianson as the second of four siblings. Doris grew up on a farm about a mile west of Wilmot. Following graduation from high school she attended and graduated from business school in Watertown, SD. She worked for the Civil Service of Treasury in Washington DC and later in Chicago. She married Clayton Willard Foss on June 30th, 1946 at Wilmot Lutheran Church following his return from active duty in World War II. Following a lovely family wedding, the couple honeymooned in Wisconsin Dells. They resided a short time in Sioux Falls, SD where their first child, Barbara, was born. Clayton moved the family to Webster where he worked at the creamery. Clayton and his father built a small home for the family on East Fifth Street. Doris gave birth to two more children, Judith and Robert. The family moved to Newberg, Oregon in 1963. Immediately upon arrival, the family joined Zion Lutheran Church. Doris was very active in choir, Sunday school and Ladies Circle. So many wonderful friends were made. Their youngest child, Maren, was born in 1964. Doris enjoyed traveling, making several trips to see family in Ohio, San Francisco, South Dakota and Norway. Accompanied by her sister Alys, she visited the holy land in Jerusalem during the spring of 1998. Preceded in death by her parents Albert Christianson, Clara (Anderson) Christianson and brothers Gerald Christianson and Lloyd Christianson. Doris is survived by her husband, Clayton; sister Alys Christianson of San Francisco; and her four children, Barbara Williams, Judee Wright, Bob Foss (Margaret) and Maren Graham. She has ten grandchildren Tim Williams, Brian Williams, Jennifer Hopkins, Suzy Mikolajczyk, Zackary Pacholl, Donovan Pacholl, Daniel Pacholl, Megan Foss, Sarah Doty and Christopher Foss. And has 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday March 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Newberg, Oregon. Interment on Monday March 18 at Willamette National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Attrell’s Funeral Chapel of Newberg.
