Diana Lynn Sasse
August 7, 1972 - October 26, 2017
Diana Lynn Stockman Sasse was born in Ketchikan, AK on August 7, 1972. She died on October 26, 2017 in Portland, OR after a seven month struggle with cervical and lung cancer. She fought bravely against her disease and kept a positive attitude throughout. Diana was one of the most kind, creative, caring, and intelligent people who had ever entered our lives. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and wife. She was deeply cherished by her family and friends. Her friends had a saying which was “What would Diana do?” This was due to Diana's ability to compassionately listen to whoever was talking with her and to give great advice if needed at the end of the conversation. She had a love for travel that was sparked by a trip to Europe right after high school with her best friend Ellie and a special summer she lived and worked in Denali National Park in Alaska. Some of her earlier interests included hiking, camping, horseback riding, and photography. She lived most of her young life in Corvallis, OR where she attended Harding Elementary School, Western View Middle School, and graduated Corvallis High School in 1990. While in school she played violin and AYSO soccer. In high school she was on the freshman volleyball team and on the soccer team for three years. Diana married Troy Sasse on August 30, 2008. After marrying Troy she moved to Newberg, OR where she lived until her passing. Troy remembered the first time he saw Diana was like a scene from a Hollywood movie where time just slowed down as she entered the room to meet him for dinner at a restaurant. Troy and Diana went on numerous trips and cruises over their nine year marriage, which included NASA, Disneyland, Disneyworld, Belize, Honduras, Mexico, and Alaska. Diana was looking forward to retiring to a warm climate like Florida so she and Troy could continue to see the world via cruise ships. The cruise around the world would have been something that Diana would have really liked to have seen. Her last job was working for a credit union where she worked her way up from teller to loan officer and then to the trainer at Rivermark Credit Union in Beaverton, OR. She loved her job and she considered her co-workers as part of her family. Diana was a talented artist in many areas. She especially enjoyed jewelry making where she had a storefront on Etsy. She was a thoughtful gift giver. Many who knew her have had a special piece of jewelry made just for them. Creating artwork brought her tremendous joy. She is survived by her husband, Troy Sasse, her parents, Alan and Diane Stockman, her brother Brian Stockman, his wife Cybil Stockman, and their two children. Also her paternal grandfather, Harold Stockman as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins along with their families, and by Kai her canine companion of 15 years. A celebration of life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, Nov. 11th, 2017 at Attrell's Funeral Chapels, 207 Villa Road, Newberg, OR. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Legacy Hopewell House Hospice would be appreciated.
