Dean Wayne Tessman July 21, 1932 – October 30, 2021 Dean Tessman, 89 years old, passed away peacefully at home on October 30 surrounded by loved ones. Dean was born on July 21, 1932 in Linnton, Oregon to John D. and Bertha L. Tessman, the youngest of 6 children. Dean attended Gibbs School and Newberg high school, and went on to become a well respected machinist. Dean married Doris King in 1952, and from this union came 4 children: Carol, Deana, Tom, and Shari. They were later divorced. Dean wed Frances Codiga in 1973, and became “Papa” to her children – Steve, Danita, John, Timothy, Jill, and Amy. Dean was known for his ability to take an idea from concept through completion. His innovative designs were not only evident in his place of employment, but also throughout the community and in his home and hobbies. He was instrumental in placing the operational Tessman sawmill in the McMinnville museum, and also well known and respected locally for his clock maintenance and repair skills. Dean built small engines, model airplanes, furniture, and widgets to make mundane and tedious tasks bearable. Dean is survived by his children, Carol Tessman (Newberg, OR), Deana Tessman (Driggs, ID), Tom Tessman (Newberg, OR), and Shari Tessman-Thomson (Spokane, WA), step children Danita Stonebrink (Salem, OR), John Codiga (Newberg, OR), Timothy Codiga (Carlton, OR), Jill Codiga (McMinnville, OR), and Amy Horton (Wilsonville, OR), 14 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents, 5 siblings, step-child Steve, and his wife Frances. Funeral services will be held at the Newberg Church of the Nazarene on Monday, November 8, 2021 at 1 pm, with a viewing from noon until 1 pm. Burial will be at the Gibbs Cemetery at 2:30 pm.
