Arvid Rufus Alen Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

OBITUARY INFORMATION: Arvid Rufus Alen Arivd Rufus Alen was born the son of Andrew and Eva (Clark) Alen on Friday, April 16, 1915 in Big Timber, Montana. Arvid went to school in Big Timber, Montana, At the age of 20 years old, he moved to Walla Walla, Washington. Then Arvid moved to Newberg in 1942 and has lived here since. He worked in logging, farming and was an auto mechanic until the 50’s, when he became a full time mechanic working at several local dealerships. He then began his own shop and ran it for 25 years. He enjoyed gardening, and was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Newberg. His first marriage was to Esther Clark, and then after her death he married Hazel in 1992. On Friday July 16, 2010 Arvid died at his residence when he was ninety-five years, three months of age. Surviving and left to honor his life are: three sons, Roy Alen of Vancouver, Paul Alen Vancouver and Lloyd Alen of Newberg; two sisters, Esther Stuber of College Place, Washington, Pearl Nelson of Citrus Heights, California; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great- great-grandchildren and those who have come to know and appreciate him where he has lived and worked. His wife Hazel preceded him in death. His, Memorial Service, will be Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Newberg.
