Shirley Joanne Haynes

Shirley Joanne Becker was born on February 16, 1936 in Rulison, Colorado. She was the first born child of Harry and Lorraine Becker. From birth, Shirley charmed everyone with her beautiful smile. Around age 8, her family moved to Oregon where she attended Eugene Junior Academy. Shirley graduated high school from Laurelwood Academy, where she was loved by many of her friends. She went on to continue her education at Walla Walla University. Shirley was talented musically and performed in many musical programs throughout these years. During her freshman year of college she met the man of her dreams, Paul Haynes. They were engaged within the year and after Paul completed his last year studying theology, they were married on June 24, 1956 in Eugene, Oregon. The newlyweds settled in Roseburg, Oregon. Shirley made a cozy nest while attending a business college and Paul drove a log truck, waiting to be called into their next path of ministry. From this new beginning, the couple was led to Washington DC for Paul to finish his education in ministry. The two of them fulfilled their calling by serving the SDA conferences throughout Washington, Alaska, and Oregon. Shirley and Paul were blessed with three children, Landon, Walden and Becky Jo. Shirley found much joy in making a home for her beloved children through the years of following her husbands call to the ministry. After losing her husband Paul in 1985, Shirley was faithful in her commitment to the Lord and her ministry as a very active member of her church family. Shirley accompanied the musical group “The Sojourners” with her beautiful voice and talent on the keyboard. She settled in Clackamas Oregon, where she proudly sowed a beautiful garden and welcomed four loving grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who enriched her life with love and joy throughout the years. Preceding Shirley in death is her husband Paul Haynes and brother Jerry Becker. Shirley is survived by her sons Landon and Walden Haynes, and her daughter Becky Jo Lazott; sisters Donna Becker and Beverly Ottman, brother Terry Becker; four grand children, and six great-grandchildren.” Services will be held at Pleasant Valley Seventh-Day Adventist Church on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 3 PM
