John Lee Dickson

Our Beloved John Dickson died peacefully at home and transitioned into the arms of his Savoir Jesus Christ on April 21, 2021. He was 78 years old. He was born to Herbert and Velma Dickson on August 3, 1942. He grew up in Tualatin, OR and graduated from Tigard High School in 1960, By the grace of God, he miraculously survived a serious automobile accident in 1960 and lived a healthy life despite a year and a half in the hospital. His sister Judy set him up on a blind date with a friend from nursing school, Jean Green, who quickly captured his eye and eventually his heart. They were married August 26, 1967 and spent 53 years enjoying the adventure of life together. They raised three children in a home designed and built by John on 30 beautiful acres in Tualatin. His primary vocation was driving truck He was also a salesman of petroleum products for Hydrotex. However, his passion was farming. On any given evening in the summer, you could probably find John cutting or baling hay around Tualatin to feed his herd of Polled Hereford cattle. When not working the land, you might find him in his shop fixing a tractor or creating new parts or tools that he had sketched. John was a faithful friend to many in his community and would easily give of his time & talents to help other in need. His sense of humor, laughter, and joy for life were encouraging gifts he shared with those who were fortunate to know him. His faith in the Lord was the foundation and motivation of his actions. Whether as a deacon at Norwood Bible Church, singing hymns with family & friends, or buying a meal for someone on the streets who needed a helping hand, he lived out what he believed. In addition to his wife Jean, John leaves behind a loving family who have already missed his presence. His children Jina Patton (John), Julie Gildersleeve (Brinker), and Jeff Dickson (Angela). His grandchildren Michael, Isaiah, Natalie, Amanda, Ashley, Mason, Finley, and Cash. His sister Judy Hannan (Dennis), his nephews Bill & Bob Hannan, and his cousin Suzi Dennis (John). A memorial service and celebration of his life will occur at the Dickson farm June 19, 2021 at 6:30pm Drinks, appetizers, and desert will be provided.
