E. Darleen Williams

Edith Darleen (Buchacker) Williams April 28, 1928 - December 1, 2025 Darleen was born 4-28-1928 in Des Moines, Iowa. She passed from this earth and went to be with our Lord Jesus at age 97. She graduated High School at East High School in Des Moines, May of 1946. She married Kenneth William Walker. They had 4 children, all boys. While raising 4 boys, mostly as a single mother, she worked at Hy-Vee grocery store. After her children were grown and out of the house, she owned and operated several baby stores. These stores sold baby furniture such as cribs and highchairs. The stores also sold children's clothing. She enjoyed providing her first grandchild (Alexis) with a crib and some adorable clothes. Eventually she moved from Des Moines, IA to Mesa, AZ. She lived there only a couplle of years. She moved to Sun City (Menafee), CA. She was a member of the Lion's club and enjoyed singing karaoke with friends for years.. In February 2021, she moved to Sherwood Oregon to be close to her only surviving son, Duane. She lived in Sherwood nearly 5 years and enjoyed family gatherings and doing puzzles in her leisure time. She continued to drive at age 97 and maintained independent living until she broke her hip in early October 2025 and then her femur in late October 2025. She did her own shopping, laundry and cooking and paid her own bills. She also knew her pill/lmedicine schedule and maintained it herself. Darleen was a much-loved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Services will be held in the spring 2026 at Avon Cemetery, Des Moines, Iowa. Dates to be determined. Darleen's ashes will be laid to rest beside her mother at that time.
