Betty Prentice Jensen

Betty Prentice Jensen was born in Park Rapids, Minnesota on May 26, 1930 and joined her Lord on Friday, October 4, 2019. Her family moved from Minnesota to California in 1943. While attending high school, she met and began dating her future husband, Donald Jensen. Betty graduated college from UCLA and taught elementary school during the beginning of her marriage. Betty and Don had three children, Daniel, David, and Priscilla. In 1969, Betty and her family moved to Beaverton, Oregon, where Don was the senior pastor at Village Baptist Church. Betty faithfully assisted her husband in caring for the members of Village, welcoming numerous fellow believers into her home and constantly helping others to see and focus on her Savior, Jesus Christ. Betty also took joy in spending time with and caring for her family members. Before she and Don began dating, she daily prayed for his salvation. She frequently told her family members about the joyful day when she watched him walk down the church aisle in order to accept the altar call. Soon after Betty and Don married, Don was diagnosed with Type I diabetes. Betty provided a constant source of support to him throughout his lifetime of diabetes. She managed his diet and medicines while constantly uplifting him and encouraging him to care for himself. Her tender care of Don enabled him to care for Village and allowed them both to live a long and active life together. In her spare time, Betty enjoyed spending Saturday afternoons going antiquing with her sister. As well as raising her three children, she also raised and trained three German shepherds and two poodles. While their children were young, their family frequently savored camping throughout the northwest and up to the Great Lakes. After their children moved out and Don retired from his pastorate, Betty and Don both loved adventuring across the US in their RV, as well as traveling overseas when they had the opportunity. Betty is joining her husband Don, her parents, and her sister Marian in Heaven. She leaves behind her three children, Daniel Jensen, David Jensen, and Priscilla Shimeall, as well as her eight grandchildren. She is also survived by her baby brother Bruce Prentice. We will miss her until we see her again in Heaven with her Lord. Betty will be laid to rest in a private family service at Friends Community Cemetery in Newberg, Oregon.
